1-1/2 cups All Purpose Flour                   1/2 cup sugar

1-1/2 tsp baking powder                              1 egg yolk, slightly beaten

1/4 tsp salt                             3 Tbsp milk

1/2 cup butter                   1/2 tsp vanilla

Method:    Stir flour, b. powder & salt together.   Cream butter;  add sugar gradually, beating between additions.        Add egg yolk;   mix well.    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk;   add vanilla.      Chill dough thoroughly.

Roll 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured board;     cut with fancy cookie cutters.     Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in a moderate oven (375 degrees F.)     8 – 10 minutes.

I have used this wonderful recipe since before I was married.  It comes from the Canadian Five Roses Flour Cookbook, and is the best sugar cookie recipe I have ever tasted!    (Yes, I did occasionally try to like others . . . . . )
